Taxo

IHK exam, taxi and Mietwagen

The Unternehmerschein. 6 minutes a day, no course.

Taxo teaches by rules, not by questions. Each rule in four stages, until it sticks.

The exam is in German, so Taxo is in German. Explained in plain German, everything read aloud. That is how you learn the words the examiner uses.

Free to start, no account. For iPhone, iPad and Android.

What Taxo does

Everything that gets you to the exam. Clearly sorted.

No course, no guessing. You always see where you stand and what comes next.

Rules, not questions

Four questions about the same paragraph are one piece of knowledge. Taxo counts the rule, not the single hit.

Four stages per rule

From true or false to a scene from daily work. Right means one stage up.

The error notebook

What went wrong appears once, sorted by exam weight. It leaves only when you get it right on two different days.

Flashcards

The stack is as big as your progress. Six rules learned means six cards, not ten.

Your plan up to the exam

Tell Taxo your date. The route spreads over your days, and the last week stays free for review.

Language helper

Tap a technical term and see it in your language. With Taxo Plus the whole question on request. The German original stays on top.

Every feature in full on the Features page, the whole syllabus on Material.

Try it

Are you ready for the IHK exam? Three questions, two minutes.

The questions are in German, exactly as they appear in the app. Tap the answer you think is right, then you get the same explanation the app would give you.

    How it works

Three steps, nothing else to decide

    Enter your exam date

Taxo splits the material over the days you have left, caps the daily goal at the minutes you actually have, and keeps the last week free for review.

One step a day, about 6 minutes

One rule, four stages, from true or false to a scene from daily work. Five questions, each with an explanation. The top of the screen always shows what is next.

    Run the exam simulation

Two parts of 60 minutes each, on the clock. Afterwards you see which area still needs work.

    So you can follow

Your exam is in German. Your way there is not only German.

The questions stay in German, or you would practise the wrong thing. The explanation next to them is in plain German, without the language of the authorities.

    • Tap a technical term and your word appears underneath, in English, Arabic or Turkish.
    • With Taxo Plus the whole question on request, in Arabic, Turkish, Persian or English. The German question always stays on top, exactly as on exam day.
    • Every theory chapter, every question, every explanation read aloud, with your phone's voice.
In-app Sprachhilfe. Eight technical terms before the topic, each in Turkish, Arabic and English, on a German interface.

    Licence

The licence asks for professional competence.

Anyone who wants to work for themselves as a Mietwagen or taxi operator needs a licence under the German Passenger Transport Act. In everyday German it is called Konzession, and for Mietwagen also Mietwagenkonzession. Mietwagen means a hire car with a driver. It has three requirements, reliability, financial standing and professional competence (§ 13 Absatz 1 PBefG). You prove the professional competence with the IHK exam, and that is the exam Taxo prepares you for.

There is a way without the exam. Anyone who has worked for at least three years in a leading position in a Mietwagen or taxi company can have their competence recognised instead (§ 7 PBZugV). That work must have ended no more than two years before you apply. If that is you, ask your IHK about the recognition before you start studying.

Fees, dates and the application sit with your IHK. The chamber list is in the IHK directory (German).

    Course or Taxo

Courses often cost over 550 euros. They are not required.

The IHK tests what you know, not which course you sat in. What you need are the questions, the explanations and enough practice.

    A course

Often over 550 euros. Fixed evenings, a fixed room, travel. Miss one evening and that part of the material is gone.

    Questions

What you probably want to know

    What is the Unternehmerschein?

It is the German licence exam for running a taxi or Mietwagen business (hire car with a driver). The official name is Fachkundeprüfung für den Taxi- und Mietwagenverkehr, an exam at the IHK, the chamber of commerce. You need it if you want your own permit, for example to run a taxi or a Mietwagen service. Do not confuse it with the P-Schein, the driving permit for passenger transport. That one comes from the local authority and has no IHK exam.

    Is the app in English?

No, and that is on purpose. The exam is in German, so the questions, the answers and the explanations in Taxo are in German as well. What Taxo does is use plain German. The explanations avoid official jargon, everything can be read aloud, and the hard technical terms come with the language helper, Sprachhilfe in the settings. Tap a term and your word appears underneath, in English, Turkish or Arabic. It translates the term. With Taxo Plus and an account you can also see the whole question in your language, a few a day, the technical terms kept in German. Not every translation is perfect, it helps you understand, you learn from the German sentence. The German question always stays on top. If you can follow this page, you will get through the app.

    What does Taxo cost?

Starting is free. The whole first area, law and regulation, with all its lessons, the calculation practice and the area test. Plus all the theory, 20 questions a day and one exam simulation a week. Taxo Plus opens all 55 topics and removes the limits. 29,99 € once and for good, or 9,99 € a month, cancel through your store account. The price in the store is the one that counts.

Where do I get the app?

For iPhone and iPad in the App Store, for Android on Google Play.

Do I need a course as well?

You have to judge that yourself. Taxo has the whole set of questions and simulates the exam, but we do not promise that you will pass. If you want someone to ask questions to, take a course on top. Fees and dates are set by your IHK. We do not promise that you will pass.

Your chamber's fee and the link to register are in the IHK directory (German).
